The insulated gauge rod is a tool for drilling holes in railway rails. The insulated track gauge rod primarily consists of an iron clamp, fasteners, and two rod bodies. The ends of the two rod bodies are connected by a joint, which contains an insulating sleeve. An outer sleeve surrounds the insulating sleeve. Both the ends of the rod bodies and the inner bore of the outer sleeve feature mating connection structures. These connection structures comprise threads or at least one spaced groove. The outer sleeve may be integral or split. The outer circumference of the shafts and the inner/outer circumferences of the outer sleeve exhibit no steps beyond the connection structures.
