Turkey: Accelerating Delivery of Domestic Locomotives and Rolling Stock

Türasaş has delivered newly - manufactured locomotives and rolling stock, including electric locomotives, EMUs, freight cars, and fire - fighting vehicles, to the national railway operator TCDD Taşımacılık. All newly delivered vehicles are designed and manufactured entirely with domestic expertise at Türasaş production facilities in Eskişehir, Sakarya, and Sivas.

In February this year, Türasaş commenced the production of Turkey's first national high - speed train, with a designed speed of 225 km/h. Between 2026 and 2028, 14 more high - speed trains will be produced. In late May, Türasaş delivered the first 5 out of 95 E5000 electric locomotives. These locomotives are developed under a contract signed in spring 2024. The E5000 is Turkey's first domestically designed and manufactured main - line electric locomotive, featuring key components such as traction converters, traction control units, central control units, and traction transformers – technologies that were previously only developable by advanced economies.
