Siemens’ Newly - Developed Amtrak Cascade Locomotives

Amtrak's I - 5 corridor, linking Seattle, Vancouver (BC), Portland and many other stations, will welcome eight new Cascade train sets and two new locomotives in 2026. The new trains, retaining the classic color scheme of evergreen, cream and mocha, are manufactured by Siemens in California and funded under the federal Infrastructure, Investment, and Jobs Act.

Featuring cutting - edge design, each car of the train sets has Cascade Range mountain graphics. The new trains will first depart from the Siemens factory. After inspection, testing and approval, they’ll arrive within months for operation. Equipped with panoramic windows, extra dining - table seats, redesigned dining cars, plus USB ports, free on - board Wi - Fi, enhanced lighting, digital passenger displays, automatic steps and touch - free restrooms, each train can accommodate over 300 passengers.
