On September 18, 2025, Alstom's first IC5 "Future Train" for DSB was unveiled in Copenhagen and began dynamic testing in Denmark. Based on the Coradia Stream platform, the train has a maximum speed of 200 km/h and features a 5-car formation. Its interior uses natural materials such as wood and high-wool-content fabrics, providing durability and a modern feel, with 96% of the train's materials being recyclable. The design won the 2024 Red Dot Design AwardAlstom. The IC5/Litra ES project has been expanded to 153 trains, valued at approximately DKK 20 billion, with Alstom providing 30 years of maintenance services. Due to the delay of the first train's entry into service until 2027, three additional trains have been ordered. It will gradually replace older models such as IC3, IC4, and IR4 in DSB's fleet.
