Contract Signed for 39 Unmanned Trains of Mumbai Metro, India

2025-08-27
Mumbai Metro Line 4 in India, also known as the Green Line, is an elevated corridor with a total length of 35.3 kilometers and 32 stations. Recently, Alstom has won a major contract to supply 234 metro cars for Mumbai Metro Line 4, along with a Communication-Based Train Control (CBTC) signaling system and five years of maintenance services.
The contract, worth hundreds of millions of euros, was awarded by Larsen & Toubro Limited (L&T) and will further strengthen Alstom's long-term position in India's urban transportation sector. Under the contract, Alstom will deliver 39 fully unmanned six-car Metropolis trains, paired with its Urbalis Forward CBTC system. This solution is designed to increase line capacity, reduce passenger travel time, and improve energy efficiency. In addition, Alstom will provide five years of maintenance services to ensure maximum availability and reliability of the line's operation.
