"Going Against Green Europe: The Pașcani Diesel Locomotive"

During the period of ecological transition, when the European Union is dedicating funds to pollution - free trains - electric or hydrogen trains, Gruia Stoica, the owner of the former Grampet - GFR empire, has chosen to boast about a single - unit diesel train manufactured in Pașcani. This decision not only seriously calls into question the strategic vision of this businessman, but also seriously calls into question the understanding of the European context that Romania should integrate into.

According to the invitation sent by Gruia Stoica to politicians and the media, the festival event will start tomorrow at 10:00 am in the official hall of Bucharest North Station. The history of the diesel multiple unit (DMU) produced by Electroputere VFU Pașcani, a company under the Grampet Group, perfectly illustrates the strategic inefficiency and lack of direction promoted by Gruia Stoica in the previous period. Diesel locomotives should be scrapped, not launched and promoted. In any vibrant industry, a product designed and manufactured since 2012, tested in 2020, and finally approved in 2025 is already outdated. Not only technically, but also morally.

In the context of current European sustainability and energy efficiency standards, the Pașcani diesel engine is a relic. Describing it as "Romanian innovation" now is not only misleading, but also goes against economic and technical common sense. No serious company in the European market is investing in the development of diesel multiple units anymore. All EU member states are accelerating the transition to electric, hybrid or hydrogen trains. If the product promoted by Romania does not respect the future, but the past, it risks being technologically isolated.
