In May 2025, Alstom joined forces with STA Südtirol Transport to launch the first 21 units of the new Coradia Stream trains, designed to connect South Tyrol (Italy) with Tyrol (Austria). The unveiling ceremony took place at Marling-Venosta Station, coinciding with celebrations marking the 20th anniversary of the Venosta Railway's opening.
Michele Viale, Managing Director of Alstom Italy, noted that over 600 Coradia Stream trains are already in commercial operation in Italy. The new regional trains for STA represent a significant upgrade in connectivity between South Tyrol and Tyrol, advancing the national transport system through cross-border services. Manufactured at Alstom's Savigliano plant, the trains feature a top speed of 160 km/h, a length of 127.9 meters, and seating for 381 passengers, equipped with the ERTMS signaling system. They include spacious bicycle storage areas, fully accessible zones (with two wheelchair spaces featuring power sockets), and PRM-compliant toilets in every two carriages, ensuring both comfort and inclusivity.

The Autonomous Province of Bolzano-South Tyrol announced that the trains will enter service in the Vinschgau Valley and across the province by mid-2026. With a continuous power output of 3,000 kW and a 200% increase in passenger capacity per trip, they will significantly enhance commuting efficiency. Scheduled for commercial operation in 2026, their launch is contingent on completing certification tests. Additionally, the BULEMU consortium led by Alstom recently signed a contract with Bulgaria to supply 35 Coradia Stream interregional electric trains, expanding the series' global reach.
