Správa železnic (SZ), the Czech railway infrastructure management company, has launched the modernization of the Brno-Přerov railway, which will be part of the country's high-speed rail network and further integrated into the EU's high-speed rail system. After modernization, trains will reach 200 km/h, double the current maximum speed.

The first phase involves the 10-km section from Nezamyslice to Kojetín, including reconstruction, duplication, removing level crossings and building grade separations, with completion in late 2028. Works include installing the European Train Control System (ETCS), upgrading existing lines, building a second track, realigning sections with a 744-meter Němčice Tunnel and 8 bridges (the longest 122 meters).

Technical upgrades focus on safety and environmental protection: duplication improves efficiency; new stations have accessible facilities. Nearly 2.3 km of noise barriers with recycled rubber will be installed, and bridges will use transparent panels. The project, contracted by three companies, costs 7.8 billion Czech koruna (about €310 million), funded by EU funds and national capital. Divided into five sections, subsequent sections will start soon, some via PPP, helping the Czech Republic integrate into Europe's high-speed rail network.
