Russian Railways (RZD) and the Central Suburban Passenger Company (CPKK) have launched the first train of the latest Ivolga 4.0 on the Yaroslavl line of the Moscow Railway. This milestone marks another significant step in the large - scale modernization program of suburban transportation in the Moscow region.
The new Ivolga 4.0 train, manufactured by Transmashholding, represents a major leap forward in the development of domestic rail transport in Russia. The latest Ivolga 4.0 train offers several key advantages: increased capacity, featuring wider aisles and doorways, as well as more doors; faster boarding and alighting speeds due to the improved car configuration; a 20% increase in passenger seats compared to previous models; and a 20% increase in line speed, shortening travel times.
The main difference between the Ivolga 4.0 and its predecessors is the three - door body of the middle car, which allows passengers to board and disembark from the train more quickly and comfortably. Additionally, both the exterior and interior of the train have been enhanced.
The launch of the Ivolga 4.0 is a logical continuation of the systematic infrastructure upgrades and development of the Yaroslavl suburban railway line. This includes the joint efforts of the Moscow Metro and Russian Railways to build additional main tracks, reducing train intervals by one - third, constructing a major transportation hub in Rostokino, and connecting it to the Moscow Central Circle (MCC).
In terms of independent research and development, the Ivolga train has achieved a high level of localization. 97% of its components are manufactured by more than 600 domestic enterprises in Russia, and the localization of microelectronic components is still ongoing, reflecting Russia's independent manufacturing capabilities in rail transit equipment. Moreover, the Moscow region accounts for 75% of the orders for new metro and suburban trains, driving the development of the local transportation equipment industry.
